Kim Jong-un's Children: North Korea's Next Generation
South Korea Confirms Kim's Three Children
SEOUL, South Korea - South Korea's top intelligence agency has confirmed that North Korean leader Kim Jong-un has three children, including an eldest son.
Rare Appearances by Kim's Children
The confirmation comes after the North Korean regime rarely showed its leader's children in public. However, in a notable 2022 appearance, Kim's daughter, Ju Ae, was showcased during a military parade, sparking speculation about her potential role in the country's future.
Succession Speculation
While Ju Ae's presence in the public eye has raised questions about her possible succession, analysts caution that it is premature to make such predictions. Kim Jong-un is still young, and the succession process in North Korea remains opaque.
Kim's Family Background
Kim Jong-un is the second of three children born to Kim Jong-il and Ko Yong-hui. His older brother, Kim Jong-chul, was born in 1981, while his younger sister, Kim Yo-jong, is believed to have been born around 1987.
